Residential Structural Engineering
Homeowners, builders and residential designers in the Pittsburgh area call Rise Structural Group when a project needs an engineer’s seal: an addition, a deck, a wall coming out, a foundation that is moving, or a plan reviewer who wants calculations.
What we do
- Custom homes and whole-house renovations
- Additions, dormers and second stories
- Decks, covered porches, pergolas, pool houses and outdoor structures
- Removing bearing walls and columns for open floor plans
- Beam, header and lintel sizing
- Foundation and retaining wall design and repair
- Basement and crawl space assessments
- Sealed letters for permit, insurance and real estate transactions
Two ways to work with us
Full structural drawings. For new homes and larger additions, we produce a complete sealed structural set that goes into the permit package alongside the architect’s or designer’s drawings.
Structural redlines. For most additions, decks and renovations, we review your builder’s or designer’s drawings, mark up the structural changes, and seal the final set once the markups are incorporated. This keeps your fee down and keeps one set of drawings on the job.
Visual assessments
If you are seeing cracks, sagging floors, bowed walls or water where it should not be, we will come out, look at it, and tell you in writing what it is and what to do about it. Most residential assessments are completed within a week of the site visit.
Service area
Allegheny, Butler, Beaver, Washington and Westmoreland Counties, including Wexford, Cranberry Township, the North Hills, the South Hills, Sewickley, Fox Chapel and the City of Pittsburgh. We also handle remote reviews for builders in other states where we are licensed.
Who we work with
